Born in the Bronx, New York, James began acting at the age of thirteen. He landed his first ever audition and won the role of a Lost Boy in Steven Spielberg's "Hook", starring Robin Williams, Julia Roberts and Dustin Hoffman. While filming "Hook", Hoffman personally asked James if he'd like to play his son in his upcoming film "Hero". Of course, he accepted. Soon after, James took on his first serious role playing Pedro, the drug addicted friend of Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg in the acclaimed film "The Basketball Diaries". He then won the role of Cory, a mentally challenged young man in "If Tomorrow Comes" starring James Franco. After numerous television appearances in hit shows such as "Jag" and "Arli$$", James caught the biggest break of his career when he teamed up again with Steven Spielberg, playing the role of Sgt. Frank Perconte in the Golden Globe & Emmy Award winning miniseries "Band of Brothers". James recalls the experience as "a career monument, and life altering", and still keeps a strong relationship with Frank Perconte, the WWII Veteran he portrayed. James then found himself on prime time, landing a series regular role on "Queens Supreme" a CBS drama starring Oliver Platt and Annabella Sciorra. James recently lent his voice to the blockbuster DreamWorks Animated film "Shark Tale". Next he ventured into the independent world accepting lead roles in films such as "Searching for Bobby DeNiro", a comedy about four young actors from New York who are willing to do anything to get Robert DeNiro to star in their film. And also "West of Brooklyn", co-starring Joe Mantegna, a heartfelt film about three brothers who move to LA and open a pizzeria after their mother's death. James looks forward to incorporating his experiences into new and inventive filmmaking endeavors as an actor, writer and director.
