Bernhardt is presently adapting the best selling comic book Shi, for Mimi Polk Gitlin producing (Thelma and Louise, 1492). The feature film Virginia presently finishes shooting in Los Angeles (March 2005), the same day which Bernhardt's adaptation of Dan Millman's bestseller The Way Of The Peaceful Warrior goes before cameras, with Victor Salvo (Powder, Jeepers Creepers) directing. Elephant White, with Millennium producing, will shoot in Bangkok in September 2005, with Walter Hill to direct, and Willem Dafoe to star. In active development, Bernhardt has an Untitled Depression Era Love Story with producer Dan Halsted (Any Given Sunday) producing, and Andy Davis directing (Holes, The Fugitive), and an adaptation of Nelson DeMille's New York Times bestseller The Charm School with Phil Anschutz/Crusader (Around The World In 80 Days) producing. He also has Veronica being produced by The Robert Evans Company. Notable previous rewrites include Ungodly (Black Friday) for Peter Goober (Mandalay) and The Art Of War (Wesley Snipes) with Franchise producing.Bernhardt first utilized acting to pay the bills, with contract roles on General Hospital (1986-1988), Dynasty (1989-1990), and numerous leads in small films, such as Hellraiser III (Dimension's first theatrical). But since the mid-nineties, he has watched sixteen of his screenplays produced, ranging from the low-budgeted Immortals (starring Chris Rock) to studio-fare such as The Art Of War. His work has attracted diverse talent, including Patrick Swayze, Donald Sutherland, Charlie Sheen, Joey Pantoliano, Tom Berenger, Clarence Williams III, Anne Archer, Daryl Hannah, Tia Carrere, Dolph Lundgren, Jennifer Beals, Leslie Ann Warren, Craig Sheffer, Michael Biehn, John Lithgow, Peter Weller, and Dennis Hopper.
